Originally there was no line associated with the points. Change the chart type to a line chart (with markers). The trick turns out to be to slightly change the format for the dataseries associated with the points that should be behind the lines (In this case the black points). Creating a bullet graph in Excel isn't necessarily difficult, but it can be a bit tricky. However, whatever order I used, the lines were behind the points, ie like the graph on the left rather than the graph on the right 3: Change Sales series to the line and supporting column to column: Right-click on the chart and go to change chart type. In the recommended charts, click on chart with line bars. In the Change Chart Type dialog box, under the All Charts tab, please click Line in the left bar, click Line with Markers icon, and then click the OK button. Normally the way to put some data in front of others the order of data sources should be changed using the select data source dialog. 2: Select the table and insert a Combo Chart: Select the entire table, including the supporting column and insert a combo chart. I found myself wanting to produce an x-y plot where some of the sets of data were points, and some were lines, and I wanted to have the lines in front of the points.
